Sending a Parcel in English: Asking About Price and Tracking
You are sending a parcel abroad and are not in a hurry. These four lines help you give the destination, ask about the cheapest service, check whether tracking is included, and make your choice.
What to say at the counter
You: To Germany, and it is not urgent.
When the clerk asks Where is this going?, start with the destination. To Germany answers that question; replace Germany with the country you need. It is not urgent tells the clerk that speed is not your priority.
You: How much is the cheapest option?
Once the clerk has weighed the parcel, ask what the cheapest service costs. How much asks about the price. Here, option means an available postal service, and cheapest identifies the one with the lowest price.
You: Is there tracking with that price?
After hearing a price, check whether it includes tracking. That price refers to the amount just quoted, and tracking means checking your parcel’s progress. Ask before choosing the service.
You: Then the cheapest option suits me.
The clerk replies Yes, tracking is included. Now you can confirm your choice. Then connects your decision to that answer; suits me means the service meets your needs.
Now say it yourself
Cover the English and say these four ideas aloud: give Germany as the destination and say it is not urgent / ask the price of the cheapest service / ask whether that price includes tracking / choose the cheapest service.
